There are some pretty amazing images out there, both digital photos and digital art. With digital cameras and editing software becoming more accessible to more and more people, these images are seen everywhere.

Digital art and digital photography are two terms that many people use to describe these images. Many feel these terms are interchangeable. I guess they are. Art is art. People can describe their art in just about as many ways as they can create it. But, regarding the terms "digital art" and "digital photography", I have come up with a little rule of thumb that I like to use when labeling my images.

Digital Photography

To me, a digital photo is anything that was shot with a digital camera. This image can be post-processed in image editing software like Adobe Photoshop. As long as you only use what is currently in the photo, it is still a digital photograph.

It can be illustrated like this. Imagine you are cooking. Your ingredients include water, noodles, tomato sauce, and grated cheese. Using those ingredients, you can't make chicken.

Let's apply this to a digital photo example. Let's say you've taken a digital photo of a city skyline during the day. In your photo, there are buildings, a bridge over a river, and white puffy clouds in the blue sky. In post-processing, you decide to darken the blue sky a little. You also think that increasing the contrast really makes the image pop a little more, so you do that. Finally, there's a small patch of graffiti on the side of the bridge, so you remove that in Photoshop.

Is this still a digital photo? Yes. You didn't add any elements that weren't in the original photo. You enhanced them, and that's fine. You even took some out, (the graffiti). That's fine too. In the example of the cooking ingredients, you have the option to remove ingredients you don't want to use. You just can't use what you don't have.

Digital Art

An image becomes digital art when you add something to the image that wasn't there in the original shot. Let's use the example of the daytime city shot again.

You feel that the sky in the shot is a little dull and empty. So, you add an airplane from another photo you took to the sky. This brings life to the sky, and also helps balance out the composition. Next, you remember some nice tree photos you have on your computer. You decide to add some trees and shrubs around the base of the buildings to give them a bit more life and color.

Your digital photo has now become digital art. You've made it into something that wasn't captured with the camera in the shot. You've added elements to the shot to enhance the image. You've taken an OK digital photo, and made it an interesting digital art image. You've made chicken out of water and noodles.

Which is Better?

Neither. Both are great examples of creative expression. Some may disagree. There are some photographers that consider Photoshop processing "cheating". But think about this. People were cropping, dodging, burning, color correcting, and creating multiple exposures in darkrooms long before the advent of Photoshop and digital photography. Photoshop just makes it easier and more accessible.

Yes. There are lots of things Photoshop is capable of that are not possible in darkrooms. I don't feel Photoshop is "cheating". I see it more as advancing. I doubt many complain that using mobile phones is "cheating" those people that would rather use a pay phone. (Is there anyone that would rather use a pay phone?)

The Grey Area

As with many things in life, there are exceptions. One is HDRI, which stands for High Dynamic Range Image. Basically, you create an HDRI by combining 3 or more photos, of the same thing, at different exposures. In other words, you would have 3 or more photos that are identical. The only difference would be the exposures. You combine these images, taking the best parts of each, into one single image.

This makes it hard to decide if the final image is a digital photo or digital art. It can be argued that it's a digital photo because you haven't really added anything that wasn't in the shot. All the shots are the same, including the composition. All you're adding is different exposure values to different parts of the image.

You can also argue that, because you are using elements from more than one image to make your final image, that final image is now digital art.

HDRI can go both ways. It is combining multiple images, but then again, there have been multiple exposures in photography long before the digital age. It's really up to you how you would like to define it.

So, just have fun. In my opinion, the means of creating are justified by the end. Whether an image is a digital photo or digital art doesn't matter. What matters is the final image.
Many individuals gather art work as an financial commitment. There are many different types of art to collect; art work, finalized printing, restricted versions, statue and combined press are just a few of the many promotions for enthusiasts. Some individuals only gather one kind of art (for example, English artwork) while others pick a wide variety in their choices. Whatever you select, committing in the art globe isn't just for the rich. Even those with regular earnings can become serious enthusiasts, if you know where to look.

It is best to keep in mind when considering which items to add to your selection, what will offer the best should you select to eliminate a piece? Some of the best-selling art work are scenery, abstracts, impressionist art work and figural research. It is sensible to not buy anything containing bare skin or assault, as these items don't attract a mass-market and are therefore more complicated to offer. Images also don't usually offer well, unless the symbol is of someone popular or traditionally essential, as these can attract enthusiasts of symbol art or record lovers. Prevent politically revealing items as well; unless you are willing to try and discover a market, you could be having on to a item like this for quite a while.

Visit exhibits and reveals consistently. Even if a selection provides items that are far out of your cost variety, you will start to get an eye for the assessment of different styles, which will help you in making choices that are within your cost. A bit of your energy and energy at galleries is also helpful; select the art gallery curator's mind for details on certain methods or performers. The more understanding you have of the topic, the more able you will be to deal a cost with the performers, selection entrepreneurs and audience.

Many places coordinator "starving artist" revenue, usually once or twice a season. These reveals display regional performers who are trying to create a name for themselves. These reveals are very employed to attend; not only do you get to be able to buy some great perform at very traditional costs, you also get to satisfy the makers of the items you are buying. The more you know about an specialist, the better able you are to trade his or her perform later. The specialist also may become a companion and provides you possibilities to buy formerly undisplayed or new performs, before the community recognizes them.

In the recreational areas of bigger places, yearly art gatherings are generally organised. This is yet another chance to come experience to deal with with regional performers and see their performs before they become a "name" in the art globe. Prices differ significantly at these reveals, but the promotions are of many different types of art and you can usually discover something in your cost variety that will create a great financial commitment for the long run.

If you are truly a fiend for the selection globe, you can try to acquire a job as a "gallery slave". These individuals perform in exhibits, assisting to demonstrate art, asking for musicians to do reveals with them, then placing the reveals together for the community. Not only is it exciting and exciting perform, but you get to be able to satisfy up and arriving performers and are usually aware of a little lower price if you discover a item you experience you can't stay without.

When buying for an financial commitment item, it is employed to know as much as you can about the specialist and his or her perform. What kind of items do they generally produce? What did their last three or four performs offer for? Are they preparing to division out into a different area of study; for if they are, their present performs can leap in value, as there will be a restrict on this design. Say an specialist has coloured scenery all his profession and is well-known for them; instantly he chooses to become an summary specialist. His surroundings perform will significantly improve in value because there is now a fixed number of items to select from. It is also sensible to try and buy a few of his beginning abstracts if they display guarantee, as they too will likely improve in value due to the name identification and the freshness of the artists perform.

Don't be anxious by the globe of art committing. There is something for everyone in this wide and amazing globe. Get out there and start shopping; you'll be grateful that you did.
Contrast is the difference between lights and darks or sharps and blurry's in a single photo. Contrast makes a subject stand out. And isn't that what we want in a beautiful portrait? Backlight or Hairlight is a great way to make your portrait subject (a human) stand out. The light comes from the back (hence the name Backlight) and creates a rim of light around the edges of the subjects hair (hence the name Hairlight). This rim of light creates a perfect border of contrast between the subjects head and the background. So what ingredients do we need to create backlight in a natural outdoor environment?

1. A source of natural light, mostly the Sun.
2. A darkish background.
3. A good placement of the subject.

Light source
When using the sun as a light source, the light must be coming in from a low angle. This means that we are either in the early or mid morning or in the mid or late afternoon. Because long loose hair will be subject to movement by the wind, it's best to have the wind going into the direction of the Sun. This means that if the wind is coming from the East, it's better to shoot in the afternoon, when the Sun is in the West. If the wind is coming from the West, it's better to shoot in the morning.

Background
So we need a darkish background for the rim of light to stand out. It's not necessary for the background to be very dark, just a little darker than the subject or the surroundings. A dark background could be formed by some trees with dark leaves and shadows, a dark wall or the shadow side of a building, etc. The key is to take some time and look around. If you just give yourself a minute, you will find the best spot.

Placement of the subject
Now onto the last part of the job: placing your subject in the right place. It's important to get an even distribution of light around the hair. This means that the Sun must be right behind your subject, or just a little off-center. So now we know that the Sun must be in the same direction as your dark background. So that is the direction that you should be looking at to find your best spot. Now that you found your spot, be sure not to shoot directly into the Sun to avoid lens flare (the light that hits your lens directly and causes a blurry haze in your image). A lens hood comes in very handy when trying to avoid lens flare.

Remember that when shooting a portrait, the most important thing is make your subject look good. So whatever you do to get a nice backlight, don't forget to pay attention to the other details that you normally take care of. Good luck!
A large number of individuals have been in the scenario you are in and unfortunately many of those same individuals end up dropping out because they just didn't know how to get passes when they're available out.

It might audio like I'm discussing in groups. How can anyone get passes if the occasion is available out?

For newbies I am not referring to working with passes scalpers. These are the individuals that buy up a ton of passes right when a show produces its passes just to offer it returning to anxious customers who often incorrectly end up with bogus passes. On top of this, some scalpers take benefits of the point that some individuals are willing to pay many periods more than a admission is value, so they both over cost for the passes AND often the passes are bogus.

This is a awful scenario no songs sweetheart wants to encounter.

This is why the additional industry for passes has such a bad popularity. Folks are basically too terrified to cope with any admission merchants because of the financial danger in addition to the possibility of getting bogus passes. Of course no one wants to cope with that.

But fortunately there is a way around this.

Ticket re-sell organizations are those who discover admission owners who no more need or want their passes, accumulates these passes in volume from countless numbers of different individuals, then resells them under a secure atmosphere supported by a assurance and reliable name.

The problems is that most individuals have no concept these organizations are available. The more considerable appeal of admission re-sell organizations is that as opposed to scalpers, these organizations are working with an incredible number of passes. So they don't have to cost as much per purchase to revenue. This implies that you win when it comes to purchasing your passes even if your occasion is available out. There are always passes available!

If you're in a smash for time Ticket re-sell organizations always have employees nearby to most occasion willing to side you your passes in individual, if submitting them through the email won't create it for your occasion. You can always tell a admission re-sell worker from a admission scalper because workers are always needed to show their recognition on lanyards around their neck. So there is little possibility of working with the incorrect individuals.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430694450295208060.post-78452819760403608012012-06-10T12:46:00.000-07:002012-07-08T12:47:29.486-07:00Western Art Has Never Looked So Good
Western art is any art form North and South America, Europe, and Oceania. They revolve round a central theme of being humanistic and naturalistic. Their artwork exhibits the human figure and how it acts in its pure environment. Western art has its unique characteristics in comparison with different art varieties from other places. Each artwork style has a definite fashion that gets them categorized into Classical, Byzantine and Medieval. Renaissance, Baroque, Fashionable and Post-trendy ages are also included here. All of those completely different stages within the artwork historical past has interlapped at occasions, but never failed to make its own distinctive mark. Every has drastically influenced, impressed and motivated the works of many artists throughout the ages.

A sculpture is an example of a 3 dimensional piece of public art. They're at occasions miniature, but others are gigantic. These sculptures are a well known and well-accepted form of western art. From the start of time, each work of art has advised a story of our human pursuits - the joys, fears and defeats.

Long ago, history tells us that our predecessors created sculptures out of rocks and tree stumps. In fashionable instances, our artists use stone, metal or concrete. Others favor paper or other randomly discovered objects that they piece and glue together. It's difficult to create sculptures using concrete, and it additionally deteriorates because it ages. Nature undoubtedly takes its toll on it. It weights quite a bit and infrequently occasions chip easily. Time beyond regulation, plants would often grow on its floor and on cracks. Creating high quality details by hand is a very delicate and sophisticated procedure that needs talent and experience. One small mistake can wreck your grasp piece, and you'll have to recreate the sculpture again. When making a sculpture out of concrete, you will want a framework constructed from heavy metal that you'll coat with moist cement. To add details, you must have a perfect timing earlier than the cement completely dries up.

On the opposite hand, Authentic Western Artwork uses glass fiber reinforced concrete or GFRC for their sculptures. It has brief-alkali resistant fiber glass for added strength. It's also earth-pleasant, because it makes use of recycled aggregates like glass and metal.

With GFRC, finer details in your western art will probably be extremely emphasized. With the use of molds, difficult and gorgeous designs could be made. This isn't possible with different sculpting mediums. Your sculptures are more life like and flawless. Sculptures made out of GFRC looks like a natural rock, however weights lighter. It has flexibility, and might simply be compacted and molded to any shape and texture with the colour that you simply want. It isn't easily burned because of its warmth resistant quality.

Authentic western art sbulptures are identified for its longevity; being seismic proof and its capability to face up to any weather. Whether or not you put your sculptures in or out of doors, it'll still not chip or blow up. It additionally has no chemical reaction with sodium chloride or moisture. Even should you place it underneath water it'll nonetheless look good as brand new!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430694450295208060.post-90379033322874880432012-06-04T12:47:00.001-07:002012-07-08T12:52:41.178-07:00Tips for Effective Annual Planning For Organisations
Tips for Effective Annual Planning (and Review) For Business & Organisations.
(Learned Over 24 years As A CEO.)

In my reading and my experience, organisations that have great leaders will also have clear vision. It is then vital to invlove key leaders at various levels to participate in setting themes and goals which together everyone works hard to achieve. Once progress begins there can be regular positive change, healthy culture and regular celebrations as the organisation gathers momentum and moves forward.

So, here are some of the keys I learned as CEO over 24 years:
Annual Planning - Keep it Simple, Make it Clear.
CEO and Board Level

In June each year we had a 3 day Executive Retreat with our Board of Directors. This group focused on reviewing the big picture and setting the main themes for the coming year. It is vital that the people in this group have capacity to see the big picture clearly.

As CEO I would work on those themes and plan how to integrate them into our overall program (July - Sept). I would have some ongoing discussions in our monthly Board meetings during this period.
Department Leader Level

With our Dept Leaders, Organisational Planning for the New Year would normally start in October (unless there were some obvious big picture changes that needed to be flagged earlier). We found that if we started any earlier it took their eyes off the work at hand and everybody started winding down with an end of year focus. October was perfect with Staff and Leaders towards a November review and sharing with the whole organisation.

I learned that October through February is about: review, making adjustments, celebrating progress, rewarding achievement, re-energising for the year ahead.
Implementation - Make this as easy and as fun as possible (with whole team)
Divide the year into quarters

In Australia we work on the Calendar year because our major summer holidays are over December/January and the school and work year starts in February. In a northern hemisphere nation your first quarter is probably in September.

Ist Quarter - The aim was to get a good running start after the long summer school holidays.
We began the year with a Key Leadership Retreat on the 3rd or 4th weekend of January. Everyone who carried weight at Department level or above was invited, including some promising up and coming leaders.

Then we had a major Vision Presentation in the 2nd week of February to catch up everybody on the year ahead. We would re-present and update that which was set and shared the previous November. These presentations were always spectacular with multi-media and lots of fun and involvement.

2nd and 3rd Quarters - We found it vital to get leaders and people focused and supported to maximise results through this very productive mid-year period. If people stayed focused and worked hard then this worked well. Ideally most of the year's targets were achieved by the end of the 3rd quarter (September).

To provide support and to maintain focus we would have:

Monthly Fire The Vision Leaders Meetings which were always fun, inspiring and relevant to developing as a leader.

Half yearly Leadership reviews at end of 2nd quarter

KPI reviews monthly within Departments

Progress review of Departments quarterly

4th Quarter - The aim was to finish strongly whilst we did annual planning and vision casting for the year ahead.
In many ways, as CEO, my year ran from June to June in order that the organisation's year ran well from February to December. This 4th quarter was all about reviewing the year with leaders, planning the new year, making some adjustments and celebrating.

It was always so satisfying as CEO to have the whole year ahead planned and signed off, and vision shared with leaders and membership at our Organisation's Anniversary Celebrations in 2nd weekend of November. The effect of all this was to get people's eyes off how tired they may feel and the end of year blues that oppress many organisations and to get them excited about next year's opportunities. This was a key to producing momentum through into the New Year.

We then had a huge Leadership Awards Night (really an end of year party for staff and volunteers to let off steam and to be amazed at what they had achieved throughout the year) in mid December after our largest event of the year - huge Christmas community event on 2nd weekend of December.

Summertime
We then went into summer mode from Mid December to end of January (school holidays). A change is as good as a holiday, they say, and it really did work for us. We encouraged our people to turn up in summer clothes, dress down, and we changed the decor and the atmosphere of the place, making everyone feel they were on holidays at work. For those 6 weeks we took off all the intensity off achieving goals, and just celebrated who we were, while we gave many people holidays and time out and operated on a skeleton crew. Interestingly we started to have some of our best results in Dec/January after a couple of years doing this. People love variety and fun.

Finally:
Whereas the goals of an organisation will change from year to year the overall Vision should never change (except to become bigger and clearer.) It is always good to share vision - it should be included in every communication and gathering in obvious and subtle ways, with lots of very clear and individual illustrations of how our corporate vision was making a difference. In my experience Vision seems to leak so it always needs topping up in as many real and relevant ways as possible.
Pay a visit to a couple of museums close to your residential place and get familiar with some painters. Market brochures and galleries are very helpful in getting necessary information. Learn the type of arts and determine your area of interest in order to choose suitable artistic work from reliable painters. It would be helpful if you could begin with an investment of around 10,000 to 15,000 pounds. Remember that you are in the market to buy and keep the piece for a certain amount of time and not for making quick profits. Do not concentrate on buying and selling artistic pieces. Instead, focus your interest on the pleasure a work of art can give and learn the basics of trade while using paintings to decorate your home.

In order to make a good collection, determine the painting style and history, your tates and preferences. Though the entry level for investment can be around 10,000 pounds, you can start with 1,000 pounds if you develop an eye on finding good deals at affordable prices. Buying paintings from artists who have just started their career is a great way to get good deals and save lot of money.

When the time passes, the value of the painting may increase, but there is no guarantee. If you feel that the value has increased considerably, sell the work for the current market price. Save a portion of your profits and invest the balance in other artistic work.

Look for artists who have a good story. A challenging and fascinating painting story will fetch higher price as the time passes. When it comes to value in work, rarity plays an important role. If the copies of a particular artistic work are rare and less in circulation, its value can increase considerably in no time.

Make sure that you are dealing with an artist who has attained proper training and mentoring. Such an artist will always be held in high esteem by the art world and the art collectors. Get familiar with the financial achievements of the artist. It can be useful to judge an artist's credibility by noting the prices that their work has sold for across the country over a period of time. Beware of galleries that are not independent though, and only allowed to sell the work they are given by the publishers that control them.

The simplest way to ascertain the value of a particular artistic work is to find the price at which others have bought that piece. If you wish to work with a painter with little history, find out the value of his work at trade shows and galleries. Signed prints, and limited editions can be a great way to enter the market, if you are unable to afford original piece of work. The value of such pieces increase with time as they are available in limited quantity and often signed personally by the artist, who may or may not be dead. It is important to pay attention to the work of highly acclaimed and recognized artists, as their work will always have a value far above an unknown artist.

While investing in any kind of art work, make sure to manage your risk effectively. Prepare beforehand whether you choose to invest in original pieces or signed limited edition prints. With time and knowledge, you should be able to earn a profit through art investments.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2430694450295208060.post-19629691917434967822012-05-14T12:37:00.000-07:002012-07-08T12:40:48.972-07:00How To Market Your Art
Art takes many forms. It can be in forms of the way people decorate their houses, dress, express themselves, paint and how someone talks. All these factors help to create the whole concept. A keen eye will definitely notice something unique. People interpret it differently and this brings about beauty and uniqueness.

For a very long period of time, it has given people a platform to make investments. Paintings and portraits that people acquired in the past have now gained a lot of value. It is a good idea to invest in these commodities since their value keep rising.

Exhibitions are good places to sell expensive art works. Their prices can even exceed many thousands of pounds. Sometimes the money acquired through their sale is donated to the needy in the community. Various organizations stage exhibitions in order to create awareness and for specialists to showcase their products. These are good opportunities for upcoming artists and also for those who have been in the business for a long period of time to meet potential customers. For example British Art works are regarded as being amongst some of the most influential in the world.

Most artists prefer to specialize in a particular style. Some clients prefer to collect different artworks over a long period of time, and keep them until the market can offer better prices. Demand and supply keeps on changing, and so do the prices of these products. Many clients prefer pieces that communicate certain messages and have not been very common in the market.

There are various categories of paintings. They are categorized by the period that they were made, the style of making, the artist and the kind of message being portrayed.

To produce a painting one can use different media. The most commonly used media involves acrylics, watercolor and oil. The style depends on the type of media the artist decides to use.
